Rock Island Armory's XT 22 Magnum handgun exemplifies everything that's wonderful about a 1911...and omits everything that, well, isn't. Although the robust, reliable 1911 design is a favorite among gun enthusiasts everywhere, as American Rifleman's Kelly Young points out in this video, it does offer some minor drawbacks. Namely, 1911-style handguns tend to be a bit on the pricey side; they don't have the same capacity as other semi-automatics; and they can offer fairly sharp recoil. Rock Island's XT 22, on the other hand, retails for just under $600, feeds from a double-stack magazine that offers a carrying capacity of 14 rounds, and is chambered in the .22 WMR, which offers virtually no felt recoil. How else is the Rock Island XT 22 Magnum 1911-style pistol different from the ordinary? Check out this video for more information!
