Small, smaller, smallest: Over the last few years, the trend in concealed-carry handguns has been a downsizing trend. There's good reason for that, of course; big, bulky guns are tough to conceal. However, small guns often mean a relatively small ammunition capacity. That's the dilemma that Ruger is tackling with its brand-new Ruger MAX-9 semi-automatic pistol.

As you'll see in this American Rifleman Gun of the Week video, the MAX-9 is built from the same concept as the company's wildly popular LC9 single-stack pistol, but with some key differences. First, there's a staggered magazine that allows a 10- to 12-round 9mm ammo capacity, depending on whether you want to carry the gun with its magazine flush or slightly extended. Then there's the new milled slide for easy reflex-optic installation. There's more, of course, so check out this terrific video to see if the Ruger MAX-9 might be your next CCW gun! Ruger.com
