1. Contacting NRA

If at all possible, we ask that RSOs and Instructors reach out to their Chief RSO or Training Counselor first for on-the-spot questions dealing with their accounts and courses, and only if the CRSO or TC cannot assist, to then escalate to NRA HQ Staff by emailing [email protected] ... so we limit the routine mentoring by our limited staff that is supporting over 100,000 trainers across the country.

2. NRA number populates to course report after processing

TCs and CRSOs can see when their students have had their credentials processed. When processing is complete, their accounts will reflect the 101 number assigned or the member number matched from the database. Also, TCs cannot schedule courses beyond their membership expiration date, and are required to maintain current membership in order to retain their credential.

3. Updating Point of Contact info

Any contact information can be changed (address, email, and phone number) by scrolling to the bottom of the NRAI homepage after logging in and clicking the link “UPDATE YOUR INFORMATION” in the lower left hand gray box. Changing LoginID and passwords are optional and NOT required.

4. Downloads

PPITH and PPOTH Inst exams are now available to download from the NRAI homepage as a PDF (no more Instructor Candidate packets shipped, including exams). Simply purchase the lesson plan by itself, which will save you money. We will be going this direction for student exams for PPITH/PPOTH in the near future. We will also be working on renaming files on NRAI downloads for consistency.

5. Updates to training courses

The NRA CCW certificate now includes the 2-hour live fire if that box is selected. CCW Instructor Candidates must complete at a minimum NRA CCW Basic with lessons 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, and the NRA course live-fire as a prerequisite before attending the NRA CCW Instructor course.

6. NRA Trainer’s Forum

We now have more than 6,000 active users. The Forum is the sole source of official info on the open web. No answers will be forthcoming on Facebook group questions, as that platform has proven to be ripe for censorship.

7. Pistol Instructor Pre-requisite student course

To clarify for Training Counselors, all forms of Pistol training are valid pre-reqs for Instructor training – Blended (online with in-person gun handling and qualification), the fully in-person Instructor Led Training, and Distance Learning, which is the combination of video teleconference provision of regular in-classroom instruction followed by in-person gun handling and shooting qualification.

8. Student numbers

In the past seven years, NRA Instructors and Training Counselors have trained over 1 million basic students, and over 130,000 new RSOs and Instructors.
