For some of us, the shooting sports are a hobby; for others, a calling. For still more, the fun of range time remains a memory, or even a mystery. Whichever category you fall into, the National Rifle Association of America (NRA) enjoins you to join the fun in National Shooting Sports Month. Together with the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), your NRA encourages you to take part in the shooting sports--with an emphasis on firearms safety, of course--throughout the month of August.
“We are truly excited to see NSSF promoting National Shooting Sports Month,” said Elizabeth Bush, Deputy Executive Director, NRA General Operations. “This is the perfect incentive for NRA Clubs, Business Alliance members, and NRA Instructors to introduce someone new to the shooting sports.”
Are you part of an NRA Club or a Business Alliance member? Join the celebration! Simply sign on as a participating/host club while asking your members and customers to head to the range, introduce someone new, or try a new sport.
You don't have to be part of an NRA Club to participate, of course. The real challenge is just to get out there and enjoy yourself with friends and family. What about a sporting-clays group excursion capped off by a barbeque? Or setting up a backyard BB gun range to teach the grandkids about gun safety? There are as many ways to make the most of the month as there are NRA Members!
Be sure to “Like” NSSF’s Facebook page to see how others across the country are celebrating this special event. NRA and NSSF encourage you to share your National Shooting Sports Month experience on social media and to use the hashtag #LetsGoShooting. Visit letsgoshooting.org to learn more.
