Congratulations to Reese Harper, the NRA’S 2024 Outstanding Achievement Youth Award winner! The NRA Outstanding Achievement Youth Award (OAYA) recognizes junior shooters who best meet the standards of excellence in both the shooting sports and educational achievements. Reese certainly meets those requirements.
Reese is a very busy young lady who is involved with her county's 4-H shooting program, competing at the local and state level. This earned her the opportunity to represent her state at the 4-H Nationals in Grand Island, Nebraska. She is also a member of a local Precision rifle team, which has taken her to regional CMP competitions.
Reese is active with school sports teams and is held in high regard by her coaches and teammates. This energetic 16-year-old has logged over 100 volunteer hours at various places such as animal shelters, local homeless shelters, and Friends of NRA events. She has done all this while maintaining her GPA and her honor roll status. In her downtime, she runs her own business, R & L Harper Services, and working at a local pumpkin farm where she plants, water, picks, and sell pumpkins. She'll have a bit of a boost financially; as the OAYA winner, she'll be receiving a $5,000 award.
Youth are eligible through the year of their 21st birthday to participate in the Outstanding Achievement Youth Award selection. Participants must fulfill six core requirements and choose five additional requirements from the 18 listed. Once they have completed all requirements, applicants must then submit all documentation on the Outstanding Achievement Youth Award website.
