Kimber takes the time-tested and well-loved 1911 design into a new millennium with an all-new pistol: the 2K11. These double-stack 1911-style semi-autos offer a jaw-dropping 13+1 rounds in .45 ACP and 20+1 in 9mm. Yes, there are two calibers available for each of the 2K11 configurations: standard and target. It's a remarkably varied line for an initial product launch, and it's evidence that Kimber sees a long future with the innovative 2K11.
The engineers at Kimber designed the 2K11 from hammer to muzzle to ensure reliable feeding from higher-capacity magazines with an internal geometry that's specifically enhanced. It also features a type III hard anodized aluminum grip module and an external extractor for increased reliability and durability.
The Kimber 2K11 boasts the company's signature GT Trigger, which the company touts as unlike any other production trigger on the market. Breaking at a consistent 3.5 lbs., it offers a sharp wall and a crisp break. This combined with the patent pending tool-less guide rod for ease of disassembly and cleaning
The standard model comes with three magazines and one C&H optic mounting plate for Trijicon RMR-type footprints. (Three additional optic mounting plates are available to support a variety of preferences.) The target models also come standard with three magazines and one C&H optic mounting plate, but with a twist. All target models feature a ported slide and adjustable rear target sight, as well as a Kimber-exclusive Stan Chen Customs competition magwell.
Says Everett Deger, Director of Marketing and Communications, “We were determined to produce the very best high capacity 1911 and deliver a superior value. The 2K11 has several unique features that come standard that you have to have customized in the aftermarket to achieve what you get out of the box with Kimber.” MSRP depends upon model chosen; KimberAmerica.com.
