Real Avid made a name for itself a long time ago with DIY gunsmithing supplies, but it's venturing out into a new TLA (this stands for Three Letter Acronym): EDC. EDC is short for Everyday Carry, and it's a way of describing the "life toolkit" that many of us carry on our persons every day. For most, that means at least one blade suitable for a wide variety of tasks--anything from opening boxes to self-defense--and that's where Real Avid's all-new RAV series of knives designed specifically for everyday carry come in.
There are seven knives in the new RAV series, with several configurations in handle design, blade material and shape, length, blade finish and lock style to meet a variety of user needs and tasks. Sized for comfortable and convenient carry, the RAV series folders are also priced so you can have one for your toolbox, glove box, day pack and pocket.
The RAV series knives are offered in several handle materials, including nylon, aluminum, aluminum/stainless steel, glass-filled nylon, aluminum/carbon fiber and G10. Each has its own unique profile and texturing to suit varying tastes and deployment needs. Each knife includes a pocket clip for discreet, easy-to-access carry.
Several blade profiles and materials are represented across the RAV line. Choose between traditional drop point, Tant, and modified clip point to match specific cutting needs, and between 4Cr14 or 8Cr13MoV blade material in black oxide or titanium finish. Blade lengths are 3.25 or 3.4 inches, depending on the blade profile, and consumers may select between standard or spring-assist liner lock models, or an axis lock model. Prices vary from $24.99 to $45.99 depending upon model chosen; RealAvid.com.
