Savage Arms' Renegauge made a huge splash early this year when the company announced their first Savage-branded shotgun in decades, and for good reason: The 12-gauge wonder-gun's unique D.R.I.V. system reduces perceived recoil so much that our reviewer described it as akin to shooting a bolt-action .243. Now, Savage's Renegauge is available in a dedicated waterfowling model, the Renegauge Waterfowl...and duck and goose hunters everywhere have reason to rejoice.

Traditionally, waterfowling absolutely demands the heaviest-hitting non-lead-based shotshells, and if your shotgun fit isn't perfect or you're sensitive to recoil, it can be pretty punishing for the shooter. But, as we noted back in January, this semi-auto scattergun offers unique customizable comfort and a recoil-reducing operating system that leaves the shoulder unblemished and unbruised.

“The Renegauge Waterfowl is proof of Savage’s commitment to American sportsmen and women,” Jessica Treglia, Sr. Brand Manager at Savage Arms, said. “We’ve been working on the gun for several years, making sure every aspect worked efficiently and reliably. Wingshooters go through hell to get the perfect shot, and these new Savages will deliver.”

Finished in Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Blades camo, the Renegauge Waterfowl has oversized controls that allow shooters to operate the gun efficiently, even with gloved hands. The shotgun has been tested under rigorous real-world hunting conditions and the action will cycle any shells from 3-inch Magnums to 2¾-inch target rounds. The D.R.I.V. system ensures excess gas vents before it drives the bolt, resulting in consistent ejection, less felt recoil and a blistering cyclic rate for follow-up shots.

Renegauge Waterfowl’s stock allows for both large and small adjustments to the fit of the gun. The stock has interchangeable recoil pads and cheek risers. It also comes with shims that help fine-tune minute adjustments. There are 20 different ways that Renegauge can be set up, giving each individual shooter complete control over how they interact with the gun. The stock can even be adjusted to accommodate seasonal changes in clothing density...a key benefit for those of us who use one shotgun for multiple shooting sports.

The Renegauge Waterfowl is available with two barrel lengths, 28 inches and 26 inches. The MSRP for both is $1,499. Visit SavageArms.com for more information.
