For the last 17 years, The National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), together with the National FFA Organization, has awarded a total of nearly $100,000 in scholarships for future conservationists. Most recently, they've granted a $5,000 National FFA Organization Collegiate Scholarship to Brody Garner of York, Nebraska.

Garner, a senior at York High School, has maintained a 4.0 GPA and ranks near the top of his graduating class. He plans to major in wildlife management and environmental and natural resources when he enrolls at University of Wyoming this fall.

The NWTF-funded scholarship is administered by the National FFA Organization and requires that candidates be supportive of and actively involved in wildlife conservation, the preservation of the nation's hunting heritage or other activities that support the NWTF Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative.

"I truly enjoy hunting because of the connection that you feel with the outdoors. Hunting is fun but there is also the obligation to respect nature and hunt ethically," said Garner. "It is a special honor to be recognized by FFA and the National Wild Turkey Federation in this way. They are investing in my future and the future of our wildlife by awarding this scholarship to me."

Garner also is an active member of his FFA chapter's officer team, gaining valuable life experience through public speaking and his numerous volunteer efforts.

"Individuals like Brody are the ones who will ensure that our wildlife is healthy and future hunting opportunities are secure for generations to come," said George Thornton, NWTF CEO. "Students pursuing degrees and careers in wildlife and habitat conservation will always have the NWTF in their corner."
