The Browning A5 isn't new for 2024--this inertia-driven shotgun has been on the market for some time--but the Browning A5 Hunter chambered in 20 gauge is. In fact, ever since the A5 was introduced in 2012, shooters and hunters have been clamoring for a 20-gauge wood-stocked version, and here it is!
With an overall length of 47 1/4" and a barrel length of 26", this semi-auto is shockingly nimble with an unloaded weight of just 5 lbs., 9 oz. As wingshooters know, the lighter the gun, the heavier the recoil ... but if the shotgun uses inertia to cycle like the A5 does, it will absorb much of that felt recoil. And if it's chambered in the lighter-kicking but still-effective 20 gauge, so much the better! This shotgun comes with included Full, Modified and Improved Cylinder chokes and a gorgeous checkered Turkish walnut stock. It has a 3", 3-round chamber accommodating 2 3/4" shells.
Our initial testing on the range was, as American Rifleman Executive Editor Evan Brune states, "sweet." The handling, balance, controls and aesthetics make this shotgun a real joy to shoot. MSRP $1,979; Browning.com.
