The VP9 pistol platform from Heckler & Koch has been wildly popular since its introduction, but improvements based on customer feedback have resulted in the new-for-2025 VP9 A1! Unlike previous variants, these new A1 models have no finger grooves on the front strap of the grip frame, so those of us whose hand shape didn't quite fit the grooves will have a much more comfortable grip. The gun still offers differently sized panels on the sides and rear of the grip, which can be customized.
What's really interesting about the new A1's is that the backstraps can increase or decrease the length of pull ... so shooters can customize their trigger finger reach. The 9 mm Luger-chambered handgun is fed through a 15-round detachable box magazine, and the redesigned grip frame features a large internal mag funnel for easy reloading.
There are two basic VP9 A1 variants: the VP9 A1 K, and the VP9 A1 F. The main difference between the two is the length of the barrel and overall length; the K version is a true 4" barrel, while the F model is 4.53" at the barrel. Both variants have an optics-ready version. MSRPs are $979-$1,319, depending upon model chosen; HK-USA.com.
