It's only been three years since Smith & Wesson first introduced its CSX micro-compact pistols, but the company has clearly made excellent use of the time ... and the result is the next new-for-2025 generation of the CSX, based on customer feedback and advanced engineering. It's called the CSX E-Series, and we're guessing the "E" stands for "elevate," since S&W created it to elevate the platform to new heights. It could just as easily stand for "evolution," though, because the four new pistols in the E-Series line are a direct evolution from the original CSX.
Just like the classic CSXs, the E-Series all have aluminum alloy frames and are of micro-compact size. However, they feature significant design upgrades that are hard to overlook. All are chambered in 9mm; shooters can now choose between a 3.1" or 3.6" barrel. The other two models include 12, 15, and 17-round magazines, as well as two 10-round compliant variants. All of them are cut for a reflex sight, using the RMS-C/507K footprint.
One of the really cool aspects of this is that Smith & Wesson has added what the company calls its ClearSight cut. This was designed to strategically divert gases away from the optic lens, as you shoot. This not only leaves an unobstructed view, but it makes post-range cleanup simpler.
The CSX E-Series pistols are adaptable to a variety of hand sizes with a new modular grip adapter that allows shooters to size down their frame for deep concealment ... or size up for better handling and increased capacity. They also boast an enhanced trigger that has a light, clean break, improved reset, and straighter pull to the rear, to aid in accuracy. Additional features include interchangeable backstraps, ambidextrous controls, standard white-dot sights, and a flat-black finished frame. MSRP $699; Smith-Wesson.com.
