Whether you're a hunter or clays shooter, TriStar has just introduced an all-new line of semi-automatic, gas-operated shotguns called the Raptor II that's worthy of your attention. Available in your choice of three finishes (synthetic, walnut or Mossy Oak Country Roots), a full-size and a compact length, in either 12- and 20-gauge, the Raptor II has something for everyone. TriStar's focus with the Raptor II has been delivering a reliable, high-quality semi-auto scattergun at an affordable price.
The Raptor II line sports excellent ergonomics. The redesigned stock and forearm looks sleek and streamlined, but it's more than just pretty: Shooters will find that the stock design helps them easily achieve a secure grip. All shotguns in the line offer an oversized bolt release and operating handle for ease of handling, even when wearing gloves. A fiber optic front sight ensures quick and precise target acquisition, whether you're at the range or in the field.
This shotgun has some interesting safety features! When the shooter fires this gas-operated gun, the bolt will remain open after the last round is fired. If the magazine and chamber are both loaded, opening the action will result in the gun ejecting a shell from its chamber, but it will not cycle a new shell from the magazine into the chamber. The magazine cut-off is located near trigger guard, and it must be pushed to eject a shell from magazine. This allows the shooter to clear the chamber without unloading the magazine.
The primary safety is located on the backside of the trigger guard. When engaged, the safety is designed to block the trigger, hammer lever and the hammer, which immobilizes the firing mechanism.
Durability is central to the Raptor II’s design, with a chrome-lined chamber and barrel for long-lasting performance and smooth operation. Compatible with Beretta/Benelli Mobil-style choke tubes, the Raptor II provides flexibility for various shooting applications. Each shotgun includes Improved Cylinder, Modified and Full choke tubes for added versatility.
All of the features are the same for both the 12- and 20-gauge version, although the specs are slightly different. The 12-gauge version features a 28" barrel and weighs an average of 7.1 lbs., while the 20-gauge model has a 26" barrel and a lighter weight of 6.9 pounds. All three finishes are available in a 20-gauge Compact version with a 24" barrel. MSRP $489 - $579, depending upon model chosen; TriStarArms.com.
