undefinedNRA is widely known as the foremost defender of our Second Amendment rights, but did you know that NRA is also the nation's preeminent source for firearm training?

If you're a new or prospective gun owner looking for shooting instruction, NRA has a nationwide network of approximately 100,000 certified firearm instructors who can teach you the fundamentals of safe gun handling and operation. There are 17 NRA courses to choose from, including classes that cover the basics of pistol, rifle and shotgun shooting, defensive pistol shooting, personal protection, home firearm safety and more.

Locating an NRA firearm training course near you is quick and easy. Just visit NRAinstructors.org and enter your zip code to get started.

Soon, many NRA courses will offer an online "classroom" component, allowing students to cover the textbook portion of their course at their leisure, day or night, any day of the week. As always, that classroom component, even if completed online, will be followed by live, hands-on range work with an NRA instructor, providing a depth and quality of instruction that makes NRA firearm training courses the gold standard in the industry.

In fact, NRA training courses are so highly regarded that many states require concealed carry applicants to have completed a firearm safety course taught by an NRA Certified Instructor.

"Our courses are standardized, with a nationally recognized curriculum," said John Howard, National Manager of the NRA Training Department. "I often refer to one of our most prolific trainer's quotes-‘It's like buying a McDonald's Big Mac. If you buy one in New York City, Albuquerque, N.M., or Johnson City, Tenn., you expect pretty much the same burger. It's the same thing with an NRA training course.'

"NRA has a long history of providing quality firearm safety training to the public, and I feel that this is the reason why NRA is often at the top of the list when states refer to firearm training provided by a national organization."
