“Buffalo Bill” Cody was one of the most famous men in the world during his time. This larger-than-life personality is probably more responsible for the romanticization of the 19th-century American west all over the world. The creator of "Buffalo Bill's Wild West," which was essentially a traveling circus featuring the shooting and riding skills of the American cowboy, Cody's legacy is visible all over the U.S. One such place is now a historical park, and if you live in Nebraska, your NRA Family can experience the Christmas spirit there in a very unique way.
Buffalo Bill and his wife Louisa loved to entertain for the holidays in their beautiful mansion. Today the community of North Platte, Nebraska keeps the tradition alive with "Christmas at the Cody's." Buffalo Bill State Historical Park hosts this historical holiday bash for the first three weekends in December, and it all takes place at the Cody's home.
Walk in the door and Buffalo Bill will welcome you to his home, where carolers and local musicians provide entertainment nightly in the Lady’s parlor as park visitors tour the mansion. Take the chill away with hot cider, Christmas cookies and roasted chestnuts in the old storehouse outside the mansion; heating stations will keep park guests warm. Every nook and cranny of the mansion has been transformed into a seasonal wonderland. The historic Scout’s Rest Ranch barn is also festively decorated, and the outbuildings and grounds light up the night sky.
Join the festivities from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday or Saturday Dec. 6-21! Horse-drawn hayrack rides will take people around the grounds of the state historical park, and Santa will be at the ranch listening to Christmas wishes Dec. 6, 7, 13 and 14. Entry is $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 4-12. Military and First Responders Appreciation Night is Dec. 13 and offers free entry for those who served or are serving.
