We here at the National Rifle Association are committed to keeping the unique joy of the outdoors open to everyone--including and especially hunters and shooters who are disabled--and that's why we're excited to announce the launch of a nationwide database of hunting and fishing adventures for adaptive shooters. NRA’s Hunter Services and Adaptive Shooting Programs have maintained a list of organizations offering people with disabilities outdoor opportunities for a long time, but we trust that shooters with physical challenges will find our new searchable database convenient and informative. This system allows adaptive hunters and shooters to choose from adventures such as guided whitetail hunts, chartered fishing trips and accessible hiking trails anywhere across the country.
“Venturing into the outdoors has long been acknowledged as healing for the body and soul,” said NRA National Adaptive Shooting Programs Manager Dr. Joe Logar, PT, DPT. “These benefits can be even more profound for someone experiencing an illness, injury, or disability.” Whatever your interest, the organizations featured in NRA’s new database offer a dose of fresh air and sunshine to jumpstart or improve your healing process. “Just because you’re dealing with an injury or illness doesn’t mean your outdoor experience has come to an end,” concluded Logar, who has provided NRA Family readers with a number of informative articles about how shooters and hunters facing physical challenges can continue to succeed.
