#NRAAM2019: Marlin Goes Dark (In the Best Way)

When you think "tactical," you probably don't think of the type of long gun first designed during the Civil War and made famous in cowboy movies, but Marlin Firearms is about to change all of that with the debut of their Marlin Dark series here at the 2019 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits. It makes perfect sense when you think about it: The lever-action may be an old-school kind of repeater, but it offers remarkably quick follow-up shots—certainly just as rapid or even more so than a bolt-action rifle. They tend to be light, nimble and not overly long, making them terrific for home defense. They're also versatile; in the right chambering, your defensive lever gun can absolutely double as a hunting gun.

Speaking of chamberings, the Marlin Dark series is currently available in two calibers: .30-30, which is available for purchase right now; and .45-70 Gov't., which will be shipping in three or so weeks. Both are tried-and-true loads suitable for big-game hunting, varminting, serving as a truck gun...or, if need be, defending your home. They both have 16.25-inch barrels and an overall length of 34.5 inches, and both offer 5+1 ammunition capacity. The MSRP is $949.

If you're visiting us here in Indianapolis at #NRAAM2019, you can go check these tricked-out modern lever guns for yourself! Find them at booth #6445, with their sister company, Remington. Can't join us at the Annual Meetings to see the new Marlin Dark series? Since they just made their first public appearance this morning, it may be a day or two before you can find more information online, but keep an eye on www.marlinfirearms.com to learn more!
