Since 1976, Pelican has dominated the protective case industry. With an extensive lineup of over 100 different cases in all different shapes, sizes and colors, Pelican is sure to have a case that will fit your protective needs. One of their most popular cases is the Pelican Storm Long Case iM3100, the perfect case for someone traveling with a firearm under 36 inches in length.
My name is Nic Moschetti and I’m a competitive shotgun shooter. I’m a proud member of the USA Shooting team and have had the privilege of representing the United States of America internationally at ISSF World Cups and World Championships. I currently live and train at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where I’m pursuing my Olympic dream every day. Recently, I was given the opportunity to travel with a brand-new Pelican Storm iM3100 case and I am happy to say I never once had to worry about my gun being damaged while traveling.
I have crisscrossed the United States of America as well as traveled abroad with my Krieghoff shotgun for years. Throughout the years I have tried several different cases, but none of my previous cases have compared to the Pelican Storm case. Unfortunately, the honest truth is airlines are brutal on luggage, especially hard cases. Pelican is known for giving their customers the peace-of-mind that their firearm will arrive safely no matter how poorly the case is handled in transit. Pelican cases are “Built to Protect.”
The “Storm” line of cases made by Pelican is a step up from their Protector line of cases. Weighing in at 19.8 pounds, the iM3100 case features six easy-to-operate closing latches, a comfortable rubber handle, four lock holes, hard foam to secure your firearm and pressure equalizing valves. Storm cases are waterproof, dust proof and drop proof, giving the owner reassurance that once closed, their product is safe from the elements. Something that sets the iM3100 case apart from competitors is its size. The case fits comfortably in the trunk of any sedan car making it easy to travel with, especially when you have to rent a car when traveling for a competition or hunting trip.
My personal favorite features of the Storm case have to be the closing latches and the over-sized rubber handle. On the other cases that I have used, the latches are either big and clunky or small and easy to break. The Storm case utilizes a spring-loaded button system to lock and release the latches. These latches also go all the way around the case, eliminating the potential of someone prying the case open. The over-sized handle increases comfort while transporting the case. The soft rubber is forgiving to the operator’s hand and a clear indication of the handle’s high quality design.
After taking several trips both domestically and internationally with this case it shows minimal to no wear. Pelican products are made to last and protect and that’s exactly what they do. I plan to use this case while I travel for the rest of this season and as I conclude my travels this year with the 52nd ISSF World Championships in Changwon, South Korea. My travel will be more enjoyable knowing I can trust Pelican to keep my gun protected and safe even on the longest of international flights.
Pelican cases can be purchased in an array of sporting goods stores or directly off of the Pelican website. Storm cases, as well as the Protector line of cases, are available in all different shapes, sizes, and colors to best fit your personal preferences while carrying whatever you need. Locks for the case must be purchased separately. The iM3100 is the smallest of the Storm firearm cases; it is the perfect size for an over-under shotgun.
