Springfield Armory has long been known for its high-quality 1911-style handguns, and that legacy continues with today's announcement of its latest 1911, the Emissary. Like the diplomats for which it's named, this semi-automatic handgun is elegant, precise and effective.

The first thing shooters will notice is the Emissary's unique looks. With a forged stainless steel frame and forged carbon steel slide, beautiful two-tone finish and blued carbon steel slide, it also showcases a distinctive squared trigger guard--a boon for shooters who wear gloves.

There's more to the Emissary than its handsome looks. It's also about how things look over its sights. It's optimized for whatever lighting conditions (or reflex sights) that you may encounter. The tritium and luminescent front sight on the Emissary pairs with a Tactical Rack U-Dot rear sight for easy target acquisition in all lighting conditions.  At the front, a Picatinny accessory rail is integrated into the steel of the frame and is ready to accept a light, laser or combo of your choice.

“This newest addition to the 1911 family of pistols provides an excellent option for a defensive handgun with an additional measure of refinement,” says Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory. “The modern features on this classic pistol platform make this a must-have for 1911 lovers and anyone who wants a top-of-the-line defensive pistol.” Each pistol comes with two top-quality 8-round stainless steel magazines with base pads. MSRP is $1,279; springfield-armory.com
